Maizex Seeds is thrilled to announce the latest addition to our dealer network, Big Island Seeds, a third-generation farm located in Demorestville, Ontario. Owned and operated by John, Russell, and Nicola Wager, Big Island Seeds in conjunction with Wager Farms has focused primarily on growing and processing seed, food-grade IP soybeans, and edible dry beans. The new partnership with Maizex allows the Prince Edward County seed business to now provide a seed corn solution for their customers as well as the Maizex soybean and forage seed product lines.

With both companies being fully Canadian-owned, Maizex and Big Island Seeds share a common vision for providing high-quality genetics to farmers.

“Maizex brings to Big Island Seeds a best-in-class corn hybrid and soybean portfolio with a dedicated team to support and position Maizex products for success,” notes Stephen Denys, Director of Market & Product Development with Maizex Seeds. “The Maizex team is excited to provide both product and agronomic support to the customers of Big Island Seeds.”

“We’ve always believed in offering our customers the best tools to succeed, and partnering with Maizex was a natural fit,” says John Wager. “Their Canadian focus, strong agronomic support, and proven product lineup align perfectly with the values we’ve built our business on. We’re excited to now offer corn hybrids tailored to our region, backed by a team that understands the needs of local farmers.”

With this addition to the dealer network, Maizex is further strengthening its presence in Prince Edward County, bringing more local access to high-performance seed options and personalized agronomic support. Growers in the Prince Edward County region are encouraged to connect with John and Nicola to learn more about Maizex seed solutions for the 2026 planting season, or if you have any last-minute needs this spring!
