Agronomy Notes

MZ 4040DBR has solid seedling vigour. Plants grow to short to moderate height
with an ear placed nicely. Plants flower 2 days later vs MZ 4280DBR. Ears are large
with 18-20 rows. Kernels are deep with excellent grain quality. Husks zip open and
hang showing grain during drydown. Husk cover is adequate to short and ears are
held on a longer shank. Plant health is average. Very good tolerance to ear rots.
Plant intactness at harvest is average with some plant tops missing. Stalk strength
is very good. Position north and south of zone. Predicted favourable response to
population and fungicide. Ideal for delayed harvest. Optimum performance at
32-35 ppa population.
